Sometimes I feel like I’ve lost my essence some how, I think about things I used to be so hard-core about and how over time or perhaps cyclically I lose interest, or lose faith in my ability to do it/it’s relevance to my life. Playing piano was one of those things, then there was learning Japanese (Watashi was GAzelle deska…lol), American pop music, Bollywood (although am still a fan, movies seem to meld into each other for me, I no longer have the zeal for learning songs and such). Among this random of the the top of my head list, I should say that Writing is one of those things too.
ON Getting Back into the Groove of Things…

When I was younger I wrote a lot, random things, short stories and such. Two things in particular, well that I felt particularly proud of were 1. a book series I wrote on a homeless girl who lived in a cardboard box (inspired by my love of the box car children series and Family Matters, the tv sitcom). The main character’s name was Laural Homesly. I even designed covers and handed out the series in installments to friends to read… then I let that hobby go.
IN middle school, I wrote a play about a black son of a maid who falls in love with his mother’s boss’s daughter. They have to run away together and leave town, when he gets into a fight with his beloved’s brother, that turns deadly…(I guess I had already internalized the black man-white woman phenom…lol…) I think I would cringe if I read that manuscript, who knows what marble composition book it’s gathering dust in… some of comrades enjoyed it though, I passed that, well parts of it anyway around for our entertainment.
Then in high school I got into writing sonnets, I’m not Shakespeare fan, or poetry/literature buff (tending to appreciate historical fiction and memoirs as first choice for reading).
but now what? I blog…. not even caring to change typos and such… well that is going to change. I was inspired by Invisible Muslimah’s blog entry about the novel that she is writing to start up again. Maybe this will give me something to be excited about!!!
